So this is us. We're at the Dublin airport. We got in at 5:15AM. We got all dolled in the bathrooms. Actually, I need to back up a little bit. So when we landed in Dublin we rolled through customs like it was NBC. It really was. Michelle told us to wait for her because she had to pee. Well of course, Greg wouldn't stand for that so he just took off. His puppy Scott followed suit. Dave being the gentleman that he is waited with Janae and I for Michelle. 30 minutes later Michelle rolls out of the Bathroom all changed and ready for the day. Ok, so it doesn't sound as funny typing but it was funny when we were there. She does what she wants. Ok? And it's fine. So then we get to the car rental place, of course nothing is open this early in the morning except for the rental counter that we need. So Greg and Dave had to wait in line for ever. Now let it be known that it was never Dave's plan to drive. Scott was going to be our second driver. But for some reason he decided to be lazy. So poor Dave was stuck in an awful position. (This information is going to be very relevant later in on in this post so don't forget it.) So while we wait for the boys to get the car situation figured out Janae and I got all dolled up in the bathroom. (Now, I use the words "dolled up" very lightly, because we didn't in fact look half way decent even once on this entire trip...Greg and Scott were so ticked they went to Ireland with a bunch of homely girls. Maybe that is what started their bad attitudes (this tidbit of information will also be pretty imperative later on in the post...so don't forget it either)).
Finally all the paper work was completed so we took a shuttle to the car rental place. Dan Dooley's. See, they are already a lot cooler in Ireland. A car rental place called Dan Dooley's. I mean, all we have is Avis, and Enterprise and Alamo. Dan Dooley's is such a Irish name. That's how we knew it was legit. Perhaps we should have a car rental place in Utah called Brigham Young's. That would be very Utah of us.
Here are our sweet rides. They still have Fords and Toyotas and such in Ireland, they are just a little differently. The first thing I hear out of Greg's mouth is "Why didn't we get smaller cars?" So immediately I know he's going to be a joy to tour Ireland with. Nonetheless I still decide that it would be ok if I rode around with Scott and Greg. See, there were six of us so we kinda had to get 2 cars. We thought maybe we'd become friends with Scott and Greg if we took turns riding with them. Boy were we wrong.
So we get all loaded up and headed off to Dublin. The plan was to have Dave follow Greg into town. Greg clearly had other plans. We didn't want those pests, Janae, Michelle and Dave to park near us (because that would be so annoying) so he decided to lose them on the way into town. Or in town. I guess it happened in town. You see, the streets in Dublin suck. The traffic in Dublin is terrible, comparable to New York City, only in New York they drive on the right side of the road, in the right side of their car. Dublin is different. So it didn't take to long for Greg to lose Dave. For some reason he thought it was a good idea to lose him enough for the walkie talkie not to work. This would have been harmless had we decided on a place and time to meet up. We vaguely mentioned Trinity College but not time was established. So Greg, Scott and I roll up to the college. We chill thinking that Janae, Dave and Michelle will show up momentarily. Well a few hours go by and we still haven't found them. Greg and Scott want to get out of Dodge (wow, I think that's the first time I've ever used that phrase in an actual Irish content). I was against it. I was pissed at Greg for purposely losing Dave and then thinking it would be cool to leave them to find there way back to Bunratty that night.
In the meantime we chilled with the Paparazzo and Prince Albert of Monaco.
I was pissed the whole time, cool as it was. Because I went on vacation with my friends and yet I wasn't with my friends. P to the S Greg wasn't too happen to hear that. I think I offended him by saying he wasn't my friend. So the wait continued. In the meantime Dave decides that there was no way the Greg and Scott were going to sit around and wait so long. Which in theory is right. But Janae knows me better. She knew that there was no way I wouldn't make them wait. I guess Dave one that battle so while I'm standing at the gates of Trinity College and the cool kids are unloading the double decker buses staring at my rain boots (yeah...they're not stylish according to Ireland's standars..how embarrassing!) Janae, Michelle and Dave are having an Irish pourage breakfast. While I'm in Hell, they are eating breakfast.
So, to make a long story short (mostly because I'm sick of typing) Janae and I were finally reuniting after a long day of separation. I refused to ever ride in the car with Greg and Scott again.
So the day continued. I don't want to go over all the little details as hilarious as they are because I know how long this post is already and according to our Dublin time frame it's not even 11am yet.
So I'm just going to finish this off with a million pictures and quote (the quotes will probably only be funny to Janae and I, but get over it. It's our blog.
This picture is the U2 wall. Whatever that's supposed to mean. I think it was in a music video or something.
I'm ticked I couldn't find many pictures for these next two quotes. But they are just so classic I had to include them.
“I can’t see out the back window.”
Scott: It won’t take an hour….an hour later…Michelle: Oooooh, the longer they take the more angry Greg is going to be. Laura: Do you think they’re ever coming back?
"Hell's Bells."
Dublin was beautiful, even though I was ticked at Greg and Scott. Even though we got almost no sleep the night before.
Tours make me sleepy.
We finally made it back to our cute little cottage and called it a night.
